The Concept

Eating an eclectic, healthy, and adventurous diet should not require endless hours of searching and a fat wad of dollars.  Over the past decade I have been ceaselessly on the move: Europe, Asia, Oceania, Midlantic, and currently New England.  Though all of these ups, overs, and downs I have made the most of the locally available ingredients.  Stopping at the oddest markets, eating at the grimiest stalls, and failing on more than one occasion has led to me to believe that there is better food right around the corner all the time.

Restaurant reviews are great for those who eat out at fine dining establishments and care about decor and plate presentation.  These are no doubt important in the right context.  We are not serving that kind of dish here.  This is an informal advice market dispensing thoughts on local fare served up on the cheap.  There is no need to replicate the reviews from hip local rags or in the little maroon book. The mantra here is value, freshness, originality, and cleanliness.   Local markets will be reviewed on the same terms and recipes that you can make from their wares will be shared.

Have fun, offer insight, and eat better for less.
